KATMEKAN approaches design with an aesthetic understanding in line with international standards and a clear, self-assured design language.
Each project begins with a careful reading of space through proportion, measurement, technical evaluation, and ergonomic awareness. Planning is treated as a considered discipline. From this structured foundation, interiors take shape in response to function, while the atmosphere of the space develops through a balanced dialogue between client and designer.
Every project is seen as a unique set of conditions where use, scale, material, and human presence are brought together with coherence. Decisions are guided by spatial clarity, continuity, and intention rather than passing trends.
Within the realities of budget and context, we achieve the most refined outcome for each of our projects. This reflects both our commitment to the quality of our work and our intention to position KATMEKAN as a thoughtful presence within the international design landscape.
SELENAY GEYİK
FOUNDER & INTERIOR DESIGNER M.A.
Selenay Geyik began her Interior Architecture education at Istanbul Bilgi University in 2013 and graduated in 2017. After a year of professional experience in architectural practices of varying scales, she moved to Milan in 2018 to pursue a Master’s degree in Interior Design at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA).
During her studies, she and her team received an award from the international Accor Group for their proposal in the Orient Express Train Wagon competition and were invited to Paris. She completed the program with high distinction, presenting a thesis titled Neuroarchitecture and the Distortion of Human Evolution.
Following her graduation, she worked at a London–Milan based design studio and later at a local practice in Milan, further developing both her design perspective and technical expertise.
After five years abroad, she returned to Istanbul, bringing together an aesthetic sensibility shaped by different cultural contexts with strong technical knowledge and leadership. Her approach to design is grounded in respect—for people, nature, collaborators, future generations, and the present moment. She sees people not only as the users of space but also as essential contributors to the design process.
She is the founder of KATMEKAN, a studio that values people, nature, art, design, and the inherent logic of space.
